It has been a busy week, but then it is always busy getting back to business when you’re out of town, isn’t it? I feel like I have a stack of things to do, but I am getting through things. One of the items on the list is posting to all the blogs. I put up a post about a wedding at the photo blog earlier today and will post some pictures from my 365 project later today. This evening I am supposed to do a talk at my photo club, and I have every intention of having a handout, but I have not put it together yet. Busy, busy!
The weekend was great and I think we all had a really nice time. I did all the research to find us the place where we stayed, which was a little pricey but fabulous. It was a cabin with four bedrooms and four bathrooms, two living areas and a nice kitchen. It was right near the center of town, but in an isolated area surrounded by trees. I took some really nice pictures just walking around the cabin area. Branson was, despite all the efforts of its city planners, a very pretty place. The leaves weren’t quite peak there, but they should be by this coming weekend.
We didn’t go to any shows, though Branson is famous for its shows. We did do a lot of shopping, played mini-golf, rode go-carts, watched football, and ate a tremendous amount of junk food. I believe I may have injested actual vegetables over the weekend, but it was purely by accident.
We also played a board game called Settlers of Catan. I’d heard about it, and apparently it’s really popular. I liked it, but I like strategy games a lot. I don’t know where and I don’t know when, but I know I will con someone into playing it with me again soon.
On the way to Branson last Friday, I convinced my parents (who carpooled with me) to stop by a few antiques stores in Springfield, since I had some success there last spring. One of the places where I stopped was Funtiques (located at the corner of Commercial and National), which just opened in the past few months and sells exactly the kinds of stuff that I love- all 50s, 60s, and 70s furniture and accessories! I bought a scarf and a floor lamp, but I also took a bunch of photos and I plan to review the place on my retro blog this week, if I get those photos done.
Last week was so dark and rainy. We had a pretty weekend in Branson, but I don’t know how the weather was here in Columbia. Yesterday it was warm and sunshiney and beautiful, and the autumn leaves really are at peak. I took Martha to the dog park because she’d had such a boring weekend indoors with only the petsitter coming by to say hello, and it was just packed with dogs and owners. It was crazy! But I took a 365 picture of Martha in front of some pretty fall trees, and she almost exactly matches them.
She is pretty cute!
