New Goals, OK Weekends

October 12th, 2009 · No Comments · Photography, What I Did Last Weekend

Aha!  Another goal for myself (in the continuing thought process that setting and achieving goals for myself somehow gives my life more purpose)!

There’s this project on Flickr where people take pictures every day for a year; it’s called the 365 Project.  There are several of them- some of them just for self portraits (which could not seem more vain to me) and others for things as stupid as taking pictures of a Blythe doll every day for a year (why?)

But I am not going to join any groups.  I’m just going to try to take one halfway decent photo every day for the next year, for the sole purpose of forcing myself to take more photos.  I often carry a camera and then I don’t use it, or I forget to process the pictures, or something else.  I just haven’t been shooting as often as I did a couple of years ago, and not for any good reason.  This project should help change that up.

Well!  My weekend!  It was ok.  I got some work done around the house, did some laundry, watched some Battlestar Galactica, shot a wedding, went to see a series of low-budget arty films at Ragtag Cinemacafe, and went to the Hartsburg Pumpkin Festival, which contained far too many Confederate flags for my taste (i.e., more than zero).  It was productive and social.

Aaaaannnddd, now I’m changing the subject completely.  I started online dating a few weeks ago.  I know that seems sudden, but it’s not and it’s my life and I’m tired of being stressed out about what other people think about my life, right?  Anyway, I really really need an outlet to complain about how sucky it is to be online dating, and this just isn’t the right place.  Sorry, Internet, but I try to keep from spilling my entire life open on you these days.  Wisdom, whatever.

Should I start journaling offline?  Express myself in dance?  Just start going to yoga twice a week?  I don’t know.  I know people who’ve done this for years at a time, and I just can’t understand that.  They are crazy.
