Tuesday Yawns

Yawn.  Tuesday.

When Tracy leaves in July, I’m going to have to find some new things to do to get me out of the house and start being a little social.  I like the Jeff City Photo Club a lot (meeting tonight!) but I’m at the low end of the age range median by about twenty years or so.  That doesn’t make it less social, but it does make it a little less likely that I’ll meet some people who share common interests beyond photography.

My mom and I went to the movie trivia night on Friday and managed to drag Tracy along with us.  Our team, which was a hodgepodge of other random people thrown together, did not do too well, but we did come in in the top half of the teams.  Fifth of ten teams.  If I’d managed to convince my sister’s notboyfriend to come with us, I think we would have placed in the top three.  There was a category about superheroes, and we missed half of them.  I asked him some of the questions later, and he knew the ones that we’d missed right away.  So I will start working on him to join our team next year.

I would seriously love to find a bar trivia or pub quiz game somewhere in town.  I would seriously almost drive to St. Louis once a month for something like that.  I love those games.

The rest of the weekend was fun times.  Tracy and I started to think about who is taking what, in terms of the furniture, and we went to a few antique malls to look for stuff like bookshelves.  I love shopping for furniture at antique malls.  It was way too expensive to do that in the DC area- even the cheap antiques were three times the price they are here, so I bought a lot of stuff from IKEA instead.  Now I’m ready to shake off some of the old IKEA stuff.

On Saturday night, we went to get dinner with my sister and her notboyfriend, though every restaurant in town was packed full so we ended up with Burger King takeout and concretes from Andy’s.  We ate and played PS2.

On Sunday, Tracy and I did more antique mall shopping, and we went all the way to Boonville to try a store that was supposed to be open but wasn’t open.  (I hate that- when the hours on the door clearly indicate that they are supposed to be open at the very moment you’re standing in front of them, but the lights are off and the door is locked.  Ugh.)  So instead we ended up at the Russell Stover outlet store over there, where we bought discounted Valentine’s candy.  I had never been in there before, though we pass it all the time, and I was pretty surprised at how enormous the store is.  Tons of candy!  And some of it was the obscure stuff, like the Russell Stover Adelaides.  You can’t get those in regular stores.  We didn’t really buy that much candy, but it was fun to look.

Today I ditched my frozen burrito lunch for a Main Squeeze mix of steamed vegetables, tofu, and rice with an apple date bar for dessert.  Actually about as healthy as the lunch I brought, really.  After I got over my cold last week, I started drinking a soda every day or two just to help clear my throat.  (It seems to help.  Does it really help?)  I’m not addicted, but I am drinking soda again after several months off.  Oh well.

I’ll post something at the photo blog with the pictures I’m submitting to the photo club contest tonight.  Go over there later and check it out.
