HI!!!!!!!!

December 18th, 2008 · No Comments · Endless Blathering

I’ve been lazy about posting this week and last week, and actually lots of weeks before that… I actually wrote a big old entry the other day, all about my damn hair, and then came to my senses and didn’t put it online.  You should thank me, as no one in their right mind wants to read about my hair.

It’s just getting long, is all.  That’s all I was going to write about my damn hair.  It’s getting long.  It’s longer than it’s been, at least since I started school, and growing it long for the first time is kinda weird.  It takes longer to wash and dry it, but it looks ok if I sleep on it wet or if I don’t blow dry it or if I don’t shower for a day, none of which used to fly when it was short.  But I can’t get over my absolute need to shower and wash my hair every morning, and it’s too cold to go about with wet hair.

I’ll stop talking about my hair now.  You’re welcome.

I’ve been lazy about posting, but not lazy about much else.  I finished off the Christmas shopping and the Christmas cards, which were mailed yesterday.  I like to do all the wrapping at the same time, because I love wrapping presents, so I’m looking forward to wrapping this weekend.  In fact, it will be a Holiday Celebration Weekend!! including lunch with my grandparents, some kind of party event with Tracy and my sister (probably involving a tour of Columbia, looking for light displays) on Saturday night, and then a Hanukkah party on Monday night at my parents’ house.  I bought Tracy this Hanukkah calendar this year.  She has to work on Christmas Day, so I’ll probably give that one to her early and we’ll do the rest of the Chrismukkah presents later.  I really like the calendar, especially the little candles that come out of the pockets.  I probably should have gotten things to put in the pockets.  It seems stupid to buy a present with pockets that are meant to b filled but aren’t filled.  I also got my sister an Advent calendar this year, and then felt like I should put something in each of the little doors, but I couldn’t find anything that would work and then just put candy in each one.  Lame!  Kind of dumb.  Like giving someone an empty bag or… oh, wait, I’m giving someone empty bags for Christmas too!  What is wrong with me?  The year of the empty gifts.

I’ve been working on pictures too.  I finished off the ones for my cousin and his wife and their two daughters, and that disc went in the mail, and now I’m working on the ones for my sister’s friend and her family, which I just shot last Saturday.  I really hope that I can finish them soon so they can use them for presents if they want, but it just does take some time to process.  The good news, though, is that I’m up to nearly the end of season five of The X-Files!  I’m right at the point where I need to locate a copy of the 1998 movie, which is apparently out-of-print.  I have it on VHS, but no longer have a VCR!  So I am trying to find one to rent.

And I’ve had a very productive week at work.  Today I finished reorganizing my filing system, because, yes, I have a lot of hardcopy documents that need filing regularly.  My boss is the kind who comes into my cubicle to ask for something and wants it immediately, and up til now, I’m often the type who gestures blandly at a messy stack on the desk.  I know it’s in there, but it will just take a second to find it.  So, hello, I need a filing system that works for me.  And I’ve had enough time with these documents that I’m pretty sure this is the right system.  I even broke out the little label maker, with labels for all the files.  If you know me and my home filing system, you will say, “Yeah, right, that system will not last a week…” but that’s because you don’t know me at work.  And even if you know me at work, you’ve probably seen my desk, but what you don’t know is that my filing systems tend to be great.  And I tend to use the ones at work a good deal.  And you can just shut up if you know me well enough to know my home and work messes, and you’re still all there with your judgment.  Shut up.

I’m having dinner with my Chinese friend tonight.  Unfortunately, I had lunch with my dad and made a mess out of my shirt, somehow.  I tried to clean it up with those little stain removers, but I don’t think it could handle the olive oil.  I also smell vaguely of garlic, mostly because of the restaurant.  So that’s just pleasant.

God, I feel like I’m scratching the bottom of the barrel today.  Is there other news?  Can I squeeze any more blood from this turnip?
