A couple of weeks ago, my parents and I toured through Daviess County on our way west to meet family, and we visited Adam-ondi-Ahman and Far West. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention it, since I have been blabbing about wanting to go there for months and months. (Almost a year.)
I have pictures of the area up on my Flickr site, and here’s a link if you’d like to see them.
It is really beautiful country up there, and the valley itself was particularly lovely: rolling hills, well-maintained farmland, and the meandering Grand River. It is not hard to believe, as my dad pointed out, that a group of farmers and settlers, like the Mormons of 1838, would consider it a holy place.
The panorama above is a view of the valley. It’s one of the first panoramas I’ve put together.
Far West is a few dozen miles southwest of the valley, and really not much more than a building or two along a county road.
Afterwards, we met up with family in our old hometown of Weston, Missouri. It was a very pleasant day (if a little bit frustrating, because I had that giant mystery headache at the time).

I like this panoramic view.
