I had such a productive, awesome weekend, especially since it was my first weekend without any photo responsibilities.
On Friday, I went grocery shopping and to Target and even poked around some clothes stores, because I seem to be hyper about seeing new fall styles. I don’t know what my problem is. But it was nice to get the shopping out of the way.
The Columbia Balloon Invitational was held this weekend, and I was up super early on Saturday to see the first launch. Too early, in fact, because there was nothing going on. When Tracy got off work on Saturday morning, we went back down to see if anything was happening yet and it turned out that they’d cancelled it in the meantime (because of cloud cover, I guess). So we went and had breakfast at the Berlin Cafe. Their vegetarian gravy for the biscuits & gravy is very spicy, but it’s good.
Then we went home to take naps before heading out to the dog park, the library, the record store, and the video store. We had pizza for dinner and later went out with my sister and her notboyfriend for ice cream. (Because it’s still summer!!)
Yesterday, I was very pleased with myself for getting up first thing and weeding the whole front flowerbed, which was a goal for the weekend that I didn’t think I’d reach. And I did! I even got it all done before the shade on that side of the house was gone, so I didn’t get any sunburn at all. I am very proud.
My sister called afterwards, and her condo pool was empty, so I cleaned up some of the dirt on my legs and went over to her house for my first swim of the year. It was freezing. But the good news is that her condo pool will be open through the end of September, if the weather doesn’t cool down too much in the meantime. So I hope to swim some more this week and next week, especially if the heat is back in force.
I took Tracy lunch from Sub Shop, and then went home to hang out with the dog and the cats while watching some backlog on the TiVo. Generation Kill is really a great show. I haven’t watched the series finale yet, so don’t spoil it. I brushed the dog (when will shedding season end, exactly? Ever?), I did several loads of laundry, and then I processed a bunch of photos from the road trip to Adam-ondi-Ahman a couple of weeks ago, which I might blog about on my photo blog, if I feel like it, although the quality of those images isn’t exactly fantastic, but I think they do capture the place. Anyway, I did blog about the photos I made for last week’s Jeff City Photo Club meeting. The theme was ‘drop of liquid’, and I got some interesting results.
And today! My sister and I decided to switch up from our Tuesday-Thursday morning gym schedule to a Monday-Wednesday-Friday morning gym schedule. Yes! We’ve been very consistently getting up at 5:45am and heading off to do our workouts for the past few weeks. It’s been so good for us. The first couple of times were pretty awful, but I think we’re both fine with it now. It works well.
The only thing was that the morning traffic had really increased, because today is the first day of classes at the University of Missouri. Yes, the students are back and summer is officially over. Well, it’s not officially over for me because I am pretty unaffected by the school schedules, so summer lasts until it’s no longer hot, which can be mid-October sometimes. But the students are back and now traffic is slightly worse and tables at Flat Branch Brewery are harder to get. Buck up, soldier.
And now I am off to find myself some vegetable-based lunch. I really crave a salad.
